RESORT CARIBBEAN NIGHT

    The rain had been falling and the skies were gray and ominous all day long. The flu bug took out our caterer and the facility coordinator on the day of the event. But around 4 o’clock the sun came out and helped us to get ready for our fun seminar for our invited wedding couples. We set up the main salons in the mansion as a small reception for our guests. We had light fare for consumption, along with wine and soda, and had a beautiful display of cup cakes to sample and as parting gifts. The couples were able to meet and greet each other and to discuss their weddings with each other. They were able to see various table decoration set ups for ideas and to listen to some short seminars on wedding related issues. At the end of the night, our guests received Hospitality bags full of gifts and discounts they can use for their wedding planning. We’re sorry we missed you! We hope to see you at our next event! Lumley & Lloyd Event Services

    As the primary host for the evening Kevin Lumley, owner of Lumley & Lloyd Event Services, greeted the guests and spoke a little about our event services available including consulting, coordinating and directing wedding events. The special topic of the evening was on creating Eco-Chic Weddings. It gave some basic ideas on ways to “green” your wedding and to produce a more ecologically friendly event. Financial Management Group –Danna Childress

    FMG was a co-host to the event. Danna spoke to the couples about their basic financial needs for the future. Basic items included buying a home, paying for school, planning for children, and combining finances. The wedding is a special day, but remember there is a marriage behind it. Finances are difficult for many couple’s to really discuss so it’s great to have a third party to help narrow down the focus and to be able to offer suggestions on how the couple may reach their personal life goals.

Joseph Aiken Carriage House –Joan Quinn (site facilitator)

    The owners of the Joseph Aiken Carriage House were the very kind hosts for our evening event. The beautiful property is located in downtown Charleston at 20 Charlotte Street. It is an old mansion with condos available for rental. The property is just opening up as an event venue. Our evening’s events were set up in the two main salons of the main house. The venue is in historic downtown Charleston on the peninsula. It provides both inside and outside areas to host a special event, and has 4 condos that may be rented as accommodations for the bride and her ladies, parents, the honeymoon night or other combinations of lodgings. Sandals Resorts –Joan Rodriquez (Sales Rep)

Sandals Resorts was our primary topic for our wedding guest couples. Joan showed a slide presentation of the Sandals Resort properties available for destination wedding events or honeymoons. They have properties all over the Caribbean in some of the most beautiful locations on their islands. Sandals Resorts properties are adult only and cater to the romance during your stay. Their amenity options are incredible and most are included in your package pricing. Amenities may include all kinds of water sports, golf, spa services,

tours, private pools, butler concierge upgrades and more! It’s great for the most romantic vacation of your life! For those looking at doing destination events or a “get away” with family and children, they also have Beaches properties that allow all ages and have special amenities for the younger set, too. All inclusive packages are available at each property, including meals and beverages. Ask your wedding guests to help with the honeymoon trip by setting up your own honeymoon registry. (This is not a Sandals option, but you can pass the word to friends and family if they would like to donate to the honeymoon trip in lieu of another toaster.) Our event guests received gift certificates for $150 spa services from Sandals for attending the seminar presentation. A Charleston Wedding –Hal Thornton
  
    Our participating wedding couple received FREE engagement portraits from A Charleston Wedding (ACW). Couples were escorted around the property and special shots of the couples were taken. They received digital copies of their photos to use as they wish. It gave them an opportunity to see themselves in a photographers work before making a decision on services. It also gave them a professional photo of themselves for the newspaper and family and friends! ACW also shot photos of the speakers and table displays for our event. TABLE DISPLAYS
    Lumley & Lloyd worked with some of our specialty vendors to set up some sample event table displays for our guests to set and for idea generation. Set ups included a table centerpiece of herbs to connect with the Eco-Chic event topic. Herbs and other small potted plants may be incorporated in your centerpieces and then given away as favors to your guests! Great way to save money and to show off Mother Nature! We also had a Charleston Garden table, an Oriental vision in red and gold, and an elegant display of lights and flowers in cylinders.

Keepsakes Florist –Karen Spalviero (owner& design artist)
    Karen provided our special display centerpieces and other floral décor for the evening’s event. Each of our table displays had a different theme and color palette to show off ideas for our participating wedding couples. They can take these ideas and incorporate them into their own personal wedding plans. Centerpieces ranged from very classic, romantic sets with candelabra and hydrangea rings to a fun and exotic tropical theme centerpiece in honor of our Sandals Caribbean event! Keepsakes along decorated our registration table and our cupcake display, including some of Lumley & Lloyd’s rental stock, as well as their own stock items. BBJ Linens –Judy Ellis (Charleston area sales rep)
    Lumley & Lloyd worked with Judy at BBJ Linens to select the specialty linens for the event displays. Judy provided us with our beautiful and unique linens for our tables. Our guest couples were able to see and feel some sample linens that they can use to spotlight their own wedding receptions. Specialty linens can really upgrade the look and feel of your wedding reception, whether you use it as a means of highlighting special tables like the Sweetheart table for the couple, wedding party tables, cake tables, etc. or use them as a way to bring in your event colors to create a beautiful pallet.     Snyder Event Rentals provided all of the tables and chairs used for the Sandal Caribbean Night event. Lumley & Lloyd worked with their salesperson to select tables and chairs to match the linens and the themes to each of our table displays for the event. We used both traditional round tables and square tables with a variety of Chevari ballroom chairs and bamboo folding chairs. Remember your chairs can add a distinct look of their own to your event. Add chair ties, chair covers, chair caps, and/or flowers and other decorations to create special looks or to set apart special seating options. Mix your table styles, incorporating both rounds and squares to create unique floor plans. Hospitality Gift Bags
    Lumley & Lloyd provided our couples with Hospitality bags at the end of the evening filled with special offers, gifts and coupons from various wedding professionals locally and nationally. Each couple received a nice tote bag from Lumley & Lloyd that can be reused as a great tote or beach bag for the couple. Each of our participating vendors at the Sandals Caribbean Night provided special gifts for our guests. We also had outside wedding vendors donate items for our special couples.

CupCakes on King Street –Cupcakes Bakery provided us with beautiful and tasty cup cakes for our guests. Cup cakes are a more European way to add sweet to your event. They can be a fun way to spice up your dessert offerings for your wedding event. Use them for dessert at the rehearsal dinner or use them at the reception instead of a traditional cake. Or add them as an option with the cake, especially if you have lots of kids! They may also be used as a tasty favor to send your wedding guests home with at the end of your reception. WedSafe Event Insurance –Wed Safe Insurance provide our guests with some basic information on wedding event insurance options. They also provided our ladies with a small compact mirror as a gift. Wedding Gown Preservation –Lumley & Lloyd provided a $25 discount certificate to our couples as a representative of Wedding Gown preservation Company. This service cleans the wedding gown and veil after your special day. They are hand pressing and stored in a cardboard storage chest with a view port window.
